The story behind Essence Infusing.
Herbs, roots, spices, fungi, and plants are the foundation of both flavor and health. Through infusion, their distinctive flavors, aromas, and beneficial compounds are drawn into carriers like oils, honeys, syrups, and sauces, where they can be used and enjoyed in everyday life.
Inside these plants is real value, and that value is fragile. Too much heat, aggressive processing, or careless handling breaks it down quickly. Once it's gone, there's no getting it back.
What frustrated me was how hard it was to work with botanicals while preserving what mattered, especially when I wanted to use them more often and in more forms. The methods available made that harder than it needed to be.
The kitchen made careful work complicated.
Most kitchens are built for speed and intensity, not care and control. High heat is easy. Low-temperature precision is not. When you're working with botanicals, small differences in temperature, timing, and mixing decide whether you end up with something vibrant or something flat and degraded.
One batch might turn out great and the next might not. Not because the ingredients were bad, but because the process was fragile.
A better waySo I started building what I needed.
When I looked for tools that could support this, nothing came close. Existing options were too crude, too large, too narrow, or too dependent on guesswork. They solved one task at a time and made it hard to expand beyond that.
ELOH is the system that came out of that work. It was designed to handle the fragile parts of infusion so people can focus on what they want to make. Along the way, that vision has taken shape through a Delaware EDGE STEM grant, expanding patent claims, and building a foundation that brings careful infusion into everyday kitchens.
Do things well, not just more.
Timing, temperature, and mixing shouldn't require constant attention or a rotation of pots, burners, and thermometers. The system handles those variables when you want, while leaving room for hands-on control when you don't. It's sized for experimentation and real meals, not giant batches you don't need.
Doing it yourselfIt should feel better, not harder.
Whether better means health, creativity, enjoyment, or saving money, making things yourself should feel easy, without guesswork or research. Too many products lean on heavy processing and fillers that strip away the natural benefits. What we eat should reflect personal taste while preserving what makes the ingredients worth using.
Grounded in scienceBuilt for real life.
There's a growing body of research around heat sensitivity, compound preservation, and extraction. ELOH is built so people can benefit from that science as it evolves, without having to study and manage the process themselves. The complexity lives in the system, not in the steps.
Where this is goingAn infrastructure for making.
Essence Infusing is growing into an ecosystem: tools and guidance that help people make more of what they care about, in ways they understand and trust. Over time, this becomes an infrastructure for making, not just consuming. One that lets people rely less on finished products and more on their own curiosity, taste, and intent.
